The Moors

See below for details.

A day on the moors, (with Clarkie.)

Full orchestra

‘I was listening to “Days On The Moors” at the weekend and again this evening – thanks for sending it! My favourite sections are the bundles of melody round about 4 minutes, as you say the harp after 16, but above all the chord-based progressions from 20m onwards (this, for me, is the best moment of all.) I think you also use the drum sparingly and well – and I like that sudden solo impetus round about 12m that sits very well after the chord harmonies just before.”
Peter Clarke, a genuine musician who knows about chords, and keys and shit like that.

I thought it’s time I did some more music, I’ve had some ideas floating about in my head, inevitabley they relate to my time back in Blighty in 2015. I’ve also got a rough theme, but, like my poetry, you probably won’t identify/understand/give a toss about it.

I’ve decided to work differently this time. For a start, each track will be completed in its entirety before the next track is started. Bit and bobs which occur to me during the making process will be saved in a separate folder for future use.

This will stop me doing what I normally do, and getting a bunch of disparate tracks half done, then rushing the bloody lot just to get them out of my head. There’s only so many times even I can listen to my own  music, before reaching for an axe. (Again.)

Also, this time I’m going to not bother about trying to stick to “acoustic” or synthetic instruments for each track, if it sounds good (to me) it’s going in.

This music will appeal to only me, that’s why I do it. I have a reserve of music recorded that fits my taste and moods perfectly. Admit it, you’re jealous that you only have other people’s music to fill yours. (Unless you’re one of my musician mates, you know who you are, and can make your own.)

This time I’m going all out to please myself, you can reckon on long drawn out droning music, with brief fills and some weird time signatures and keys. (Basically as I haven’t a clue what the rules for a  “key “ or a “time signature” are.)

You’re welcome to listen, download even, but I really don’t give a shit if you do or not. 🙂

I’ll put the tracks up individually, as and when they are finished, after the first track is finished and hosted here, I’ll write a new blurb and move this to the bottom of the page.
